When should your kitten eat solid food?

When can your kitten start to eat solid food?
Mother cats will start to leave their babes for more extended periods of time when the kittens are around 5 weeks old. That’s a pretty good sign that she wants to start shedding the kitten responsibility. At this point, kittens are perfectly able to eat solid kitten food and should be encouraged to do so at 4 to 5 weeks of age (even earlier for orphaned kittens).

The day Furby the kitten chose us, it wasn't us that chose her...

When we went to collect Furby from a friend for the first time. In fact at the time we had not decided which kitten to take home, as all where so cute and lovable.
Once we had arrived all nine kittens sound asleep and continued to sleep through out the visit. Except for one kitten woke up and looked up at us to greet its new family. It was like fate, divine intervention, a miracle or perhaps just an every day coincidence.
But at that moment we had been sold our hearts taken by this little innocent kitten, so full of love and mystery in its big blue eyes!
From that moment on Furby AKA Babylon cat has become a found member of our family now consisting of two other cats, a sheep dog & several tropical fish.
Here are the photos from the first moment we met Furby :)
Just as its siblings slept it was almost like it knew and was awaiting our arrival and the beginning of its new life adventure.
